Currently, eight departments are involved in this initiative: Alpes-Maritimes, Bas-Rhin, Loire-Atlantique, Puy-de-Dôme, Rhône, Saône-et-Loire, Sarthe, and Seine-Maritime.

Only eligible policyholders from these eight departments can activate the Vitale card app.

As a digitized alternative to the physical card that will continue to exist, the Vitale card app offers a high level of security and the same functionalities as the physical card.

Convenient, easily accessible, always up-to-date: The Vitale card, just as vital in app form.

To benefit from the Vitale card app, you must:

• Be affiliated with a Health Insurance organization, MSA or MGEN of the open departments where the Vitale card app is available to date: Alpes-Maritimes, Bas-Rhin, Loire-Atlantique, Puy-de-Dôme, Rhône, Saône-et-Loire, Sarthe, and Seine-Maritime.
• Be at least 16 years old
• Have a valid Vitale card
• Have a smartphone with at least version 7

The Vitale card app enables users to:

• Identify themselves, similar to using their physical Vitale card, at healthcare professionals' premises equipped for this purpose.
• Access information about healthcare expenses incurred at healthcare providers.
• Retrieve personal and beneficiary information such as Social Security numbers, status, compulsory affiliation organization code along with other details like National Health Identity.

The deployment of the equipment for reading the Vitale card app will be done gradually among healthcare professionals. Therefore, it is advisable to always keep your physical Vitale card handy.

The Vitale card app is developed by GIE SESAM-Vitale, commissioned by Health Insurance on behalf of the Ministry of Solidarity and Health.
